A brand-new, light-filled feel-good sports event is coming to Turku – Lightfest Run will illuminate the banks of the Aura River on the eve of Finland’s Independence Day!
Dress in light – the brightest participants will be rewarded!
Lightfest Run is a new, uplifting community event that lights up Turku’s riverfront on Friday evening, December 5th. Participants can run or walk a scenic 7 km route, showcasing the most beautiful parts of Turku.
The event is part of the City of Turku’s annual “Path of Light” light art experience.
Tickets:
Adult: €25
Students and schoolchildren: €15
From each ticket sold, €5 will be donated to the Liikuttava Lahja charity campaign, supporting sports and physical activity for children from low-income families.

Lightfest Run truly lives up to its name by bringing light to Turku — along the route, participants can experience not only the Path of Light installations, but also Lightfest’s very own luminous creations. Each runner will receive an interactive LED wristband that lights up during the run, creating a stunning, collective light experience along the course. This event is not a competition — instead of focusing on time, Lightfest Run celebrates light, art, and community. It’s all about sharing the joy of movement together in a glowing atmosphere. The run is organized as part of the City of Turku’s Path of Light event. The start area is located in front of the magnificent Turku Cathedral, and the run begins at 10:00 PM.
